Full Version: Editor In Chief Problems

Jack Napier
When Datwan was Editor in Chief of King Magazine, my favorite mag had a certain swagger about it. It was a middle finger to bougie Mags out their and represented real brothas who work and play hard. It wasn't the pomp and primp of Blackmen's Magazine or even Smooth. It was the gutter grit that is F.E.D.S but it was a healthy medium. King would always know what the average brotha that wasn't a thug or a corporate power mover was thinking.

King would speak and we would listen. Many good times were had at the bar talking about King articles, sizing up the real women to the pictorals and maybe even picking up a dress tip or to. But most of all, it was full of swag! From "Questions No One Has the Balls to Ask" to "Covers You'll Never See" we were hook.

The new editor in chief seems to be heading more in the direction of white washing our ILLEST MAGAZINE!!! The more serious articles are a plus but that's about it. The covers have been consistently down hill on the Ebony scale. I'm not hating on the brotha but I'm just saying, remember what made you successful as a magazine, and grown on that.

Jack you made a valid point, Datwon served a great term as KING's EIC, and he molded the magazine into a balanced powerhouse of current fashions, news, and anything else relevant with the times and the reader. Yet with the introduction of the new editor their isn't a need to fear. Yes, the change is evident, but there is no need to worry, you see Jack, change is good like Pac said. Think of the editor change as the creation of a Lil Wayne album, the style and approach may change, but the art and vision will forever remain a classic.

To the new editor, don't let us down mane. Keep bringing the chocolate in the "eye candy" section and if the girls aren't curvy then leave their pictures on the curve, ya dig. They all don't have to be big in the butt, but they do need some dangerous curves, ya dig!

I'll break it down to simple and overall terms. I havent renewed my subscription this year. That should tell the editor something.
