I've been championing for this mag to restore itself back to it's glory days and to have once again big booty girls grace it's pages.
But nooooooo! King wanted to cater to it's advertisers and away from the "booty market" and started putting skinny black chicks up in there.
Interesting because Mail order magazines like Straight Stuntin, AsIs and Sweets are constantly selling out in this recession because they cater to a niche market: the BOOTY MARKET! Even Smooth magazine is in the booty market.
But King decided to break away from the booty market and become a general urban mag for black men and as you can see, it was the first one to fold.
The problem was they thought they were better than the "booty" market and went "thin" with their models to please their advertisers...so thousands of Black men like me lost interest AND stopped buying and SUPPORTING King years ago.
I rather order through the mail and spend $7.95 AND pay shipping cost to buy SS, Sweets, AsIs because those mags are packed with black women with phat asses than to buy King for $4.95 with those skinny black women in it.

Interesting point. I did notice that the cover girls were getting lighter and lighter in the Booty area. But also consider this...advertising dollars are down the toilet! Companies are not spending the money to advertise in magazines. To be honest I felt that they lacked substance in the mag after awhile and yes big booty girls!!1 How many times in the last year did you see that there was a spread on someone you was like hellz yeah and the pictures were ok? R.I.P. King Magazine!

that's my point. King chose to cater to their advertisers over their consumers. their advertisers wanted chicks with smaller asses...King gave them chicks w/ smaller asses.
their advertisers wanted lighter skinned chicks...King they gave them lighter skinned chicks. but when the recession hit...their advertisers stopped advertising because of the financial crunch.
King had already abandoned the "booty girl" preference of it's loyal customers by replacing them w/ skinny chicks...and their customers had abandoned them...King had no effective customers to financially fall back on to keep the revenue of the mag going.
The mag had no choice but to fold. (had they kept the big booty girls in there...the mag would still be in business).

Gotta agree with ya. KING has been on a downhill slide for a long time. I don't like to place blame but it did seem to start during the editorial change. KING should have stuck with being the trendsetter instead of going mainstream.
i had a feeling god would say something about this. i thought king magazine was doing good in my opinion and i thought they had beautiful women but i guess if they didn't have fat asses they're not worth it? and the women that were on the cover weren't even that skinny so you're blowing this out of proportion. you make it seem as if being skinny is wrong. stacey dash is skinny and i know a lot men were going crazy when she posed for king last year. but oh well!

Well I was quite surprised to hear that "King" is leaving it was a shock....I have always believe if you have a good thing why change it that much where you will lose people who were dedicated to you....
I write sexual stories and I have posted some here which I get great views that people at least viewing them..But no replies, I also write on "Shows" site the views are fair but at least they will give an reply every once in awhile..... I wish someone would say if King is closing this site down as well.....
I would have loved to write a few stories for King but never had the chance, maybe King will return and maybe not....

Ethnic women w/ phat asses in magazines is the current market so you cater to the market. That's a market King help start. But King deviated away from the very market they help create and decided to go "urban" mainstream.
Maxim has been catering to it's same core market since it's launch. You don't abandon your core market. You simply expand it. King abandoned it's core market: (the booty market).
Cats used to wait to see the "Backshot" page in King. That page used to be the Holy Grail of Ass...and any chick who graced that page...that meant that she and her backside were of high regard.
btw, Stacey Dash is famous and beautiful. Cats have been watching her in movies for years...so her being in King was no big deal.
