    “Change Gone Come…”

TSS Crew’s Beware breaks down Snoop’s latest track “Sexual Eruption.”

You knew this was gonna’ happen sooner or later.

Around the time “Beautiful” dropped in ’02, and he began crooning women instead of shooing them, Snoop’s lingering departure from actually rapping seemed about evident as Kobe leaving the Lakers.

With his new single “Sexual Eruption,” it seems like he’s finally reached that tipping point.

On what appears to be the lead single for Ego Trippin, Uncle Snoopy completely gaffles Thelonious Pain’s previously-stolen and easily-imitable digital style. Regardless, over the glow chords, flutes and altering shoulder-bounce drums, his vocoder use ironically comes across as fresh. Besides the last verse (which is above-average as well), his synthesized singing style echoes throughout the entire song.

For that reason, it’s guaranteed to get plenty of hate from the heads.

In the overall sense of music, it’s not original at all. It is for someone like Snoop, who’s only entirely sung a whole song once. While the song is not quite Roger Troutman arisen, it definitely could’ve been worse.

As everyone knows, Tha Doggfather is a master of reinvention. He gets older and his bulb continues to burn bright as he’s continually found ways to keep his elongated name in the public eye. When the young street-hood image got played out, the don of Death Row and No Limit emerged, and was eventually followed by the outlandish P.I.M.P. persona.

Snoop reinvents himself as the typical nature of rap itself becomes played out for him.

Like it or not, “Sexual Eruption” could very easily spell the last incarnation of the Dogg named Snoop. His never-ending public appeal will only give more leeway on his career path, and the George Clinton route seems to be the most adaptable for him. For his professional career, it may be the best move he can make.

Whether it’s a good move for his musical career, however, is another story altogether.
