10. Art Schlichter – A degenerate gambler, this former Indianapolis Colts quarterback has served a combined 10 years of prison time in 44 different institutions across the country. In addition to losing his NFL career to gambling addiction, he blew millions of dollars and currently lives with his mother in Indiana.

9. Chris Henry – This former Cincinnati Bengal (and teammate of Pacman Jones) committed so many crimes from 2005-2007 that he is considered untouchable by most NFL teams. A shortlist of his sins includes assault, DUI, and probation violation. Can you belive not one of them involved a strip club?

8. Marion Jones – Although she won five medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, this world champion has since been stripped of her gold after admitting to taking performance-enhancing drugs. Now serving six months for perjury, she makes Ben Johnson look like a stand-up guy.

7. Michael Vick – This three-time ProBowler is currently serving a 23-month prison sentence for various federal felonies related to his underground dog fighting hobby. Vick will also be undergoing trial for Virginia state felony charges in June, so don’t expect to see him in a Falcons uniform anytime soon. But you might be able to catch him in the annual Guards versus Prisoners game at the United States Penitentiary.

6. Marcus Vick – While it looked like he had a bright pro career ahead of him, Ookie’s younger brother blew a Virginia Tech football scholarship after various criminal incidents, including reckless driving, possession of marijuana and distributing alcohol to minors. At least he didn’t hurt any dogs.

I hate to play the race card here, but I think that it’s a shame. 8 out of the top ten worst “Criminal Athletes” are black and 4 out of those 8 are up on drug charges. It’s time to wake up people, and stop giving the status quo the stereotypical bullshit that they brand us with. When are we going to break away from what they feel to believe is the norm for us!!

Denny McClain MAYBE, but none of those other dudes did anything bad and/or interesting enough to warrant inclusion on this list. don’t just throw out 4 lesser known athletes and act like KING’s slipping for not putting them on the list

Marion Jones’ offenses seem pretty light in comparison to the others. I think you’re kinda reaching there. If you expand this to include all athletes that use performance drugs and lie about it in court, I suspect the list gets a lot longer.

Good list, got to disagree in your selections’ order. Carruth had his pregnant girlfriend killed and should definitely be #1. OJ killed his wife, but it wasn’t premeditated so passion is what made him a good athlete. Replace Chris Henry who is just dumb and young with Ray Lewis and add Laurence Phillips on there and you will have a good list. You must be a Cowboy’s fan… No Pacman?

Mike Danton is a different story than the above. He planned the murder of his “agent” after years of sexual/physical/mental abuse. He’s a broken man. He was forced as a kid to punch another kid on his team in the locker room because his agent wasn’t happy with the other kids play. It’s a sad story if you see the full picture. I don’t support his actions, but I can’t say things would be much different if you put any one of us in that situation.

I must oppose to the headline of this article. People in sports do not become criminals, they were criminals before they entered the sport, because they did not have enough skill to do something else.
