    America’s Most Haunted

The five scariest places this side of a bus station bathroom.

By day, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson are mild-mannered Roto-Rooter employees, but by night they become the Ghost Hunters, America’s leading paranormal investigators and the stars of one of the Sci-Fi Channel’s most popular shows. In honor of Halloween, we asked the duo to name the five creepiest places in the U.S. Surprisingly, the Neverland Ranch didn’t make the list.

Check out the Ghost Hunters’ live, seven-hour investigation of Fort Delaware, Friday October 31 At 7/6C on the Sci-Fi Channel.
    ———————————————————————————–
    The Myrtles Plantation—St. Francisville, Louisiana

Grant Wilson: This place is the epitome of a plantation. Its got the fields, the ripe trees—it’s beautiful. A lot of different things happened there: a guy shot another guy on the porch, a slave poisoned some kids.

Jason Hawes: Her name was Chloe. She poisoned the children, but she didn’t want to get them deathly ill. She wanted to get them sick so she could show how important she was to the family and she overdid it. The children died and the owners of the plantation killed her. There are a lot of reports of people seeing full body apparition walking all over the grounds. It’s a special place.

    Eastern State Penitentiary—Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Jason: We saw some strange stuff there. We caught a black mass actually coming towards the camera and then darting away. A couple of hours prior to us catching that, one of our investigators witnessed the same thing down another hallway.

Grant: This was a penitentiary—not a prison. Everybody there was in solitary confinement, so they wouldn’t talk to another prisoner the whole time. It was meant to get the people to repent and better themselves—not necessarily just to punish them. The prisoners would have to walk around with their heads covered with these shawls—just like what we saw.

Race Rock Lighthouse—Fisher’s Island, New York

Jason: This is the place that the coast guard is even scare to go to, so you have to wonder what’s going on there.

Grant: All the main ocean currents come into Race Rock, so there was something like 80 deaths due to all the boat crashed on these rocks. The coast guard has reported seeing wet footprints walk across the floor of the lighthouse and hearing voices even though nobody was there. They called us in and asked us to find out if something was there. We showed them footage of a chair sliding across the floor on its own. They said they would now have guys wear tennis shoes so they can out of there fast enough.

    Jennie Wade House—Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Jason: There are endless reports of paranormal activity coming from Gettysburg. People experience things during the day and night. I stayed at the Jennie Wade House and at one point the lights were turning on and off by themselves. We were having doors open and close. There was a loud scream that came from a bedroom right next to us that nobody was staying in. People have seen full body apparitions of soldiers walking down that street during the day that all of a sudden just vanish.

    Crescent Hotel—Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Grant: Back at the turn of the century, a guy bought this place and turned it into a miracle cure center for cancer patients. He would drill a hole in their skulls and put mineral oil and crushed walnuts in there to cure their brain cancer. Needless to say, he would have a bunch of bodies piled in the basement. Then hearses would come and take the bodies in the middle of the night. We went down in the basement with our thermal imaging camera and we caught what looks like a soldier nodding at us. It was very clear. At one point in the night, we sent one of our investigators up to my room to get something out of my computer bag. He couldn’t open the door and finally he just pushed hard enough that it opened. That’s when he realized that my computer bag was leaned up against the doorjamb on the inside of the room. I don’t’ even know how that would happen. I left the bag on the other side of the room. How would you even set that up?

I thought I saw ghosts once in the middle of the night when I went to the bathroom. Now that I’ve read up on lucid dreaming I am pretty sure that is what I experienced.

ALL VERY TRUE. I feel sorry for those people who have no idea, that there is NO real death. Our spirit goes on. To those who think that they have gotten away with something in this life, a surprise awaits you. YOU GET AWAY WITH NOTHING, what you put out into the universe, you will get back. Goodness and kindness will return to your doorstep if that is what you put out, and bad luck, sickness and evil will return if you put out nastiness and negativity.

Fake, you might wish it were fake, but it is all too real. And by the way, this is a very cool blog. Thanks,

I watch a lot of these sorts of shows and videos and despite buying into the thrill, I am rarely convinced. However, this series is the best, and there have been some intriguing bits of evidence they’ve found for something strange, half of them on this list I remember seeing at the time.

    Brightbluepeepers says:
Obviously, those of you who do not believe have yet to see a ghost, there is more than one type. It must be sad to be so uptight that you don’t allow yourself to pay any attention to what is around you.

I believe in God so I know this is true. And Taps is real. They are onest guys trying to find the truth out there. And they actually try to prove its fake first rule out all the other things it could be.Even when it points to real they just will not say its real. There has to be alot of proof.Keep up the good work you all do on Taps. For the record I myself have had a pretty scary incident a while back.

everything taps does is so honestly real and the crew are not putting on anything fake. I am spiritual and religious and believe in life after death.Recently, had an experience with an intelligent spirit of a little girl and could see her and feel her. So TAPS you rule big time in my book. Keep up the Ghost Hunting .

    Lisa says:
Once you have acually seen a loved one that has crossed over and felt the touch of a friend the exact same way they touched you in life, you KNOW there is something other than the life we experience here on earth. I believe in an all loving all God, I consider myself a spiritual person, and I believe in my heart there is more than the physical body.

Thank you Ghost Hunters. I love everything you guys do and I love your show. Keep up the awesome work. I can’t wait for the new season. Also Ghost Hunters International is rockin’ as well (I have to be honest I didn’t like it at first, because Robb sounded fake, like he would just say the samething everytime, but I can tell he has definitely grown and they are finding some awesome things). You guys should come visit Wichita KS soon before they get rid of Cow Town..It’s supposedly crawling with paranormal activity as well as the old Spagehetti Warehouse. Thank you!

Funny how people who don’t believe in ghosts never see them, but people who do are the ones who witness this “phenomena”. The same applies to alien abductions.

Every time I’ve watched this show it’s like they’re trying to make a supernatural event out of every little squeak or sound they hear. It’s entertainment folks, that’s it.

    Jenny says:
Oh and for all you Ghost Hunter haters… Who cares if it’s real or not, it was obviously entertaining enough for you all to watch an episode or two. Isn’t that all that matters. And if you don’t find it entertaining just don’t watch it and leave the Forums to people who want to watch it. Don’t ruin a show just because you don’t want to see it when there are people who do. Turn the Channel that’s all you have to do. If you want Reality TV (which that is all people want anymore..yuck!!!) Watch every other channel out there. Or MTV!!!! It should be called Reality TV now since no videos…jerks!!!

    Neurological Disorder says:
All of you who believe in god and have “seen ghosts”… you’re basically ruling out one with the other. Does a logical person believe in ghosts or god? No. You’re saying “I believe in a big invisible man in the sky, therefore I also believe in invisible men on earth.” You might as well just say “I’m insane and I believe in ghosts.” It discredits any information or logical argument you might have.

    Walt D says:
I reviewed the TAPS video of the Eastern State Penitentiary black mass. The object appeared to inertialessly reverse motion, which was very unusual, and yet it was a physical object because as it advanced the draft from its passage moved fabric on the wall nearby. Outside of video tricks, and I think there weren’t, this one was both real and broke physics laws.

    Antwon says:
I’ll believe it til I see it. I believe it’s possible. This universe is a big fkn mystery! We don’t know all the secrets to this life… About ghosts though, my aunt next door used to have the same dream repeatively of a guy trying to rape her. Everytime she would wake up she would have bruises on her.. A priest had to come and bless the place. That thing don’t bother her anymore. Knowing this thought I still don’t believe… Until I see it for myself.

There’s a place in South Africa, a single mansion on a hill… the guy who owned it was killed by the people building it many years ago because he could no longer pay them. They cut him up in pieces and left him all over the house. We managed to visit it once and I’ve never believed in paranormal activity until that night… seriously… scary stuff

In Reguards to the Myrtels plantation story. Chloe never existed. The Judges Wife and children were not therfore killed by her. They were not twin girls,,,,Judge Woodruffe had three children two girls and one boy. The Wife and a daughter and son did die but of yellow fever. The surviving daughter lived well into adulthood. Records kept of holdings of the plantation never show a slave named Chloe. That particular story was made up to attract tourist buisness when they first opened the house up to tours.

Apparently, Jason and Grant have not been to the John Bell farm here in Tennessee, home to the Bell Witch. Otherwise this pace WOULD be on the list. Due to my encounter in the cave, In the mid 80’s, I will not go near Adams or the Red River, which runs right thru the farm.
This experience was very real, and still effects me to this day, and Iam in my 40’s.
