Mock The Vote
While other MCs are stumping for Obama, White Rapper alum John Brown is hailing Palin.
John Brown may have come up short on The (White) Rapper Show, but his recent YouTube sensation “Sarah Palin (I Wanna Lay Pipe)” has made him the Tay Zonday of the hip hop set. With the election going down today, we talked to the self-proclaimed “King of the ’Burbs” to find out about his love of Alaska’s mad governor and his belief in Obama’s promise of change.
It’s Election Day. Is this the last time we’ll be hearing from McCain/Palin?
[Laughs] Yeah, I hope so. I think that they’re so out there that most Americans are afraid of them running the economy and whatnot.
Have you hit the voting booth yet?
Yeah, I voted absentee in Cali. I actually already have a song called “Congratulations” where I’m expressing congratulations to Obama for winning the election, because in my mind he already won.
This is the first election that hip hop has addressed in a big way. Do you think MCs have had any effect on the polls?
I’d like to think that art influences culture. People that hear the music and identify with different artists can be influenced by their opinions on politics. I do think that it has an impact—at least on a subconscious level.
What was the best single to come out of the Obama campaign?
I definitely liked Jeezy’s song (“My President is Black”). I liked the whole mixtape that Nas put out. I’ve been watching everybody trying to put their stamp on the election and just tried to find the right time to do mine.
When did the inspiration to write “Sarah Palin (I Wanna Lay Pipe)” strike?
I was in a session with a bunch of my people and we realized we got to do a song about Sarah Palin, because she’s so perfect. I was thinking about how to do the song then I saw her speech at the convention when she said “We’re going to lay more pipe.” Right when she said that, my perverted mind kicked in and I was like that’s hilarious. But I didn’t think she said that on accident. I genuinely believe there are a lot of code messages in those speeches. They’re very meticulously written and they were totally appealing to people’s sexual desires with Sarah Palin.

Congrats To Barak Obama I hope he can help inspire us Black People to take education more seriously!!! Even our young black women. Condoleezza Rice is a strong Woman Period and all Human Beings have the Abilty to change our world for the better Obama represents change on so many levels putting the fact that he’s Black aside He is a very very Smart EDUCATED Person Period, I share the Martin Luther King dream for equality but I also see the importantance of Malcolm X, Most Black folks arent racist it’s just when your fighting just to FEEL “excepted” everyday you get tired and like most of us just say “fuck it” and live our lives completely on our terms which is fine its the persons life but… what that does is it gives the younger generation the idea that if the older generation is doing it why cant they do the same. that’s what i’m seeing today. I Hope ALL People look into the entire Biography of Barak Obama to see why He is The Great Man That he is. To touch on Sarah Polin it was her lack of leadership skills why Mcclain didnt have a chance this election Americans arent stupid which was the reason John Kerry lost. When leading a THE ONLY REMAINING super Power Leadership Ability is Crucial Sarah Polin was not ready for the White House in no way shape or form. When we look back the only race for the white house was between Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama which in my opinion was a beautiful thing. Y’all go easy on Obama too Prez Bush really FUCKED UP AMERICA BAD!!! It’s going to take a while to get the country up and running again. OBAMA!!!
